Tooth Coloured Fillings

There are many reasons for choosing tooth coloured fillings, including concerns with the use of mercury in older style amalgam fillings, and of course the final aesthetic result.

Back teeth that need filling can be completely rebuilt with the latest technology using tooth coloured resin (composite) or ceramic materials. This treatment can restore teeth to a natural appearance.

Ceramic fillings are much stronger and longer lasting. These can be made in a dental laboratory, a procedure that requires two visits, or with the use of CEREC cad cam technology the treatment can be completed in one visit. These CEREC fillings are stronger than lab made fillings and when bonded into the tooth restore the tooth to its original natural colour, strength and hardness.

Why CEREC?

  • Cerec preserves and protects your own tooth’s structural integrity.
  • Ceramics are biocompatible
  • Only one appointment
  • Perfect looks
  • Perfect comfort
  • Perfect quality
  • Long lasting and durable
  • Maximum strength – great looks!

Composite Resin

Due to its physical properties, many dentists consider composite resin should be limited to small fillings where less than 20% of the tooth needs restoring. Composite resin shrinks slightly as it hardens, and this can lead to leakage and subsequent further breakdown of the tooth.
This can also cause unpleasant sensitivity.
